4 ways your boudoir photographer can legitimately help you see yourself again (the last one is my best tip!)

1) They welcome you into a safe, judgement-free zone where you can be who you are, and/or safely unlock who you want to be without criticism.

2) Safety and discretion is our number one priority. From general attitude to keep your nervous system safe, to guided poses to keep your body safe, and consent to share images to keep your privacy safe — your boudoir photographer will adhere to all these rules. This will help with your imposter syndrome and let you show up to your session unapologetically.

3) Choosing and recommending wardrobe that makes you shine. You don’t have to be who other people think you “should” be — you get to decide what makes you feel good, and we have the suggestions for places and pieces to help get you there.

4) Cheering you on before, during and after your session AND saying your name in the process. Each session is unique to the client, and hearing your name while you’re being positively affirmed by a woman you trust is such a delicious feeling and makes you truly feel seen.

My 2018/19 brides are my angels on earth. I shot weddings for 5 years and it was my brides who taught me about boudoir, convinced me to work with them on their bridal boudoir albums, and snuck around at hotels and airbnbs with me while we were *both* pretending we knew what we were doing — until it finally clicked (literally and figuratively 😬📸)

My 2020 weddings were all canceled and I dove in. DEEEEEP.

And I’ve never looked backed. I’m exactly where I’m meant to be 💕

This was one of my very favorite shoots of the year, and I love working with this very special woman and being a part of her family’s timeline 🫶🏻

📣 Fellow rectangle girlies this is for you! 📣

I’m a curvy advocate and my boudoir clients come to me because I pose to create super feminine shapes with their bodies. It’s my niche inside my niche (hint: this is why I don’t work with men. I have no idea what to do with you sry)

My body type, however, is a straight up rectangle so I need to manufacture an hourglass shape for myself if that’s the look Im trying to creating.

Here are the top 3 things you’ll here me say over and over:

•Hold your body weight on only one foot, and bring your other foot to a toe point while bending your knee.
This creates an s-shaped curve from your waist down to your knee.

•Sit into one hip
You’re pushing your hips and waist in two different directions to pronounce the curve.

•Keep your back straight, and pull your shoulders and tailbone back.
Kind of like when you do a big stretch in the mornjng. Your chest pushes forward while your shoulders and waist pull back to keep an hourglass.

So truly. Come as you are, and let’s see you in a whole new way you never thought was possible.

Fall brings a lot of newness for me. New school year, new weather, new patterns. So I always look back to find comfort in the old things, and these photos I made for myself when I was pregnant with romy are some faves.🫶🏻 can’t believe there was a baby tasmanian devil in there 3 years ago.

Loving adding maternity to my portfolio now that my studio has expanded. If there’s a memory you really want to treasure, it’s these ones ❤️

We’re not letting these totally normal things take over our lives before our boudoir shoot anymore, and we’re CERTAINLY not apologizing to our photographer for them either👇🏻 PERIODT.

1) Razor burn - consider it gone. I don’t take liberties with your body, but it’s normal for me to retouch blemishes that will be gone in 2-3 weeks including razor burn, in-growns, zits, scratches and bruises.

2) Stretch marks - they’re everywhere and on every one. Move on and use your brain power for something more important.

3) Tan lines - I’m personally into a tan line, but if you aren’t, just try to find lingerie that matches your bathing suits. If it’s a tanline from your Rolex, I’ll retouch that for you ;)

4) Your period. This isn’t a glamorous conversation, but when you’ve worked with over 400 women, it’s a common one. I have chocolate, tampons, advil and water in the studio for you, cutie, so come as you are. I got you.

1) “Your baby doll slip looks matronly and is better for your maternity shoot” —that’s all, no notes.

2) “That looks great in person, but won’t photograph well” — this goes for most neon looks, opaque robes, heels that are too high for you to pose in, and wardrobe that is too loose or too tight.

3) “You’re wrong about your insecurity.” —This is one of the hardest parts of my job: validating my clients and being understanding of their concerns, but wanting to also tell them “no, youre delusional.” I know a 90 minute photoshoot isn’t going to erase decades worth of negative thought work (thanks unrealistic beauty standards!), but I do want you to trust the process/the posing/ the lighting and be able to look at your whole self in these photos and say “wow, I’m usually hard on myself about that but I really love the way it looks here”. One small breakthrough at a time, sisters ✊🏻✊🏻

4) “Let’s take the heels off, they’re giving newborn deer” — you don’t need to be someone you aren’t at my studio. If you’re not a pumps girly, they’re coming off.

5) “The corset ties in the back, not the front” — sometimes wardrobe can be tricky and straps are confusing!! I’m here to adjust and correct as needed — no judgesies.

6) “This has nothing to do with him, so let’s take out any pieces you hate, even if he loves them” — I love that you love him, but he’s not my client. I’ve said this many, many times and I’ll say it louder for the women in the back: You always come first here. Your comfort, your wants, your aesthetic. Fin.

A few important details about how and when to book:

💕 turn around time is 4-6 weeks and I’m currently booked out about a month and a half. If you need your album by June/July then now is the time to book for an April/May date.

💕 if you have a fall wedding, you want to grab a June or July date before summer harsh tan lines, peeling skin, sunburns, and uneven skin tones are not giving smooth and velvety skin.

💕 if you want to take advantage of the interest-free payment plan (available to all!), you want to book your session at least 3-6 months before your wedding date.
